Rublev: I was almost dead, I couldn't even sleep

Andrey Rublev perfectly concluded his tournament this Sunday in Madrid. Very good throughout his journey on the clay of Madrid, the Russian once again showed very beautiful things to dominate a great Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final (4-6, 7-5, 7-5). He was even happier as he had to deal with health problems, serious enough to almost make him give up on the tournament.

Andrey Rublev: "There are no words (to describe what this title means). I mean, if you knew what I went through these last 9 days, you wouldn't have imagined that I would be able to win the title. I'm incredibly happy. And this moment changes everything, as now it doesn't seem like I lost in the 1st round in the last 6 weeks.

I almost withdrew from the tournament at one point. Because I had some problems that I couldn't solve (he was sick, with a fever and difficulty sleeping). All credit goes to the doctors, they were magical. I don't know how but they did magic tricks so that I was at least able to play. I had never seen that before, they are the best doctors I have encountered on the ATP Circuit.

This is the title I am most proud of in my career. I gave it all I had. I was almost dead every day. I didn't even sleep at night. These last 3 or 4 days, I hardly slept."
